"We are all in
this together!"

From The Principal’s Desk

This will be my last Monthly newsletter at South Central High School. I have recently accepted a position as the superintendent at the Mulberry Grove School District.

May is upon us. You would think that it would get less busy around here, but the busyness really ramps up in May. Baseball, softball, awards night, spring concert, final exams, graduation, nope nothing going on at South Central High School at all in May.

I would like to use this newsletter as a thank you newsletter. After being at the high school for 6 years and a total of 16 years in the district, I’ve worked with many different people and have thoroughly enjoyed those people. I’ve developed a great working relationship with many of them and will cherish the friendship we have.

To the board and administration, thank you for the support that you have shown me over these past 16 years. I knew when things came up that I could count on you to back me up.

Thank you to the faculty and staff at South Central High school for your loyalty, your work ethic and the memories that have been created. You are a top notch group and I hope you continue to be an award winning school.

To Mrs. Major, the past 4 years that you have been here have been awesome. The relationship that you have developed with the students will be missed at SCHS. The working relationship that we have is incredible. It is also pretty scary, how much we think alike. Sometimes I did feel sorry for Kari having to put up with both of us. I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavors. I do know that some Texas school will be very lucky to have you.

And finally to Kari. It’s been about 6 years ago now that I sent that first email telling you how much I was looking forward to working with you. And after 6 years, I can honestly say that email was absolutely correct. We have made a great team during my time here. You have kept me in line, and we both know that is a full time job, but you handled it quite well. We would need a large hat rack in which to put the many hats that you wear each day. You handle each task, issue, emergency or whatever comes through your door with class and grace. I know with you in your chair that South Central High School will continue to prosper, you are South Central High School.

I will still see people from South Central at ballgames and other places from time to time, please don’t hesitate to stop and talk. I will always cherish the many memories that I take with me as I leave South Central School District. I wish nothing but the best for the district. Thank you again for everything.

Mr. Phillips

A Note from the Secretary

I would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to everyone who has helped make this a great school year for me.  It has been said “it takes a village to raise a child” and I am very thankful to be a part of that village here at SCHS!

As many of you know, there are going to be some changes here next year.  I have had one of the best work experiences anyone could ask for with Mr. Phillips as our principal for the last 6 years.  The level of respect he has shown me and his caring personality is beyond measure.  To say he will be missed is an understatement! As Mrs. Major leaves to begin the next chapter of her life in Texas, her quirky personality and wit will always be remembered.

I am not one for good byes so I will say “see you later” and I wish Mr. Phillips and Mrs. Major nothing but the best in their future endeavors.

I will be back at my desk in August ready to answer your calls and questions and to face any challenges the new school year throws at me!  Have a great summer!
